Ramadan is a popular religious festival. It is held during the Islamic month of fasting, and is the most important religious event in the Maldives. Another Maldives festival is Eid-Ul Al’H’AA, which is also a major religious festival. During Eid-Ul Al’H’AA, everyone visits the houses of their friends and relatives. During the Kuda Id, or the Prophet’s Birthday, worshippers go to the mosques to offer prayers early in the morning. Kuda Id commemorates the day on which the Prophet Mohammed was born. After prayers, feasts are prepared and all friends and relatives join the celebrations.
