Hand baggage
The one bag per passenger rule has now been lifted at Manchester Airport. However, each airline has their own policy regarding the amount of hand baggage allowed on their aircraft. Most Airlines now permit one small bag and a briefcase/laptop or camera bag.
Liquids
You are permitted to take liquids, gels and pastes of 100mls or less in your hand baggage. These items must be contained within a small, re-sealable plastic wallet, which will have to be removed from your hand baggage and x-rayed separately.
The new regulations stipulate that the plastic wallet must not exceed one litre capacity per passenger - that's around half the size of a standard A4 piece of paper and it must be sealable. The wallet can contain two or more items of less than 100mls each but must not be cluttered to allow security officers to carry out thorough checks.
Liquids include: Water and other drinks, soups, syrups, creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, sprays and gels (including hair and shower gels) Also included are the contents of pressurised containers, including shaving foam, other foams, deodorants, pastes (including toothpaste), liquid-solid mixtures, mascara and any other item of a similar consistency
All Passengers are still permitted to pack any liquid (including all those shown above) in the bags that are checked-in to the hold of the aircraft.
You are permitted to carry in your hand luggage medicines and dietary requirements including baby foods, for use during the flight.
Please note that; you may be asked for proof that these items are needed. Parents WILL be asked to sample baby milk and food.
You will be able to buy liquids including drinks and perfumes in an airport shop after security control if they are sold in a special sealed bag, passengers must not break the seal before they are screened otherwise the contents may be confiscated at the security checkpoint before boarding the aircraft.
Large electrical items / Laptops
Laptops and other complex items of electrical equipment have to be removed from hand luggage and screened separately.
