Dubai Excursions - Sahary Gate

There are a number of excursions available from all of our Hotels in Dubai and these can be booked through our local agents. However, increasingly visitors whilst being curious to see the desert scenery and the amazing developments taking place in this small Emirate will also wish to learn more of the local culture and to gain a deeper understanding of the way of life of the people that make up the United Arab Emirates.

Sahary Gate is able to let you get close to a typical local family and can even take you to the house of a Dubai family where you will be received by members of the family in the traditional style of Dubai with gahwa, (Arabic coffee), dates and the burning of bakhour, (essence).

After your hosts have shown you around their house, providing you with a unique opportunity to witness for yourself how these people live, a typical dinner will be served. In accordance with the local custom, as the meal progresses both host and guest will socialise and get to know each other - this provides a unique opportunity for you to gain an insight into the culture of these people and ask questions about family customs, food, dress code, social issues whilst sampling the legendary Arabic hospitality.

Later in the evening, your hosts will share with you the tradition of serving and drinking the gahwa served with dates. The burning of the bakhour after the meal is a sign that the visit reaches its end, you will leave with an immense sense of satisfaction having made new friends among the Emirate community and hopefully gained a deeper understanding of the people and their culture.
