Requirements for marrying in Mauritius

At the first opportunity after your arrival you will be required to produce the following original documents to the Civil Status Officer in Port Louis where you will be asked to swear an affidavit in the Supreme Court - please note copies will not be acceptable and may result in you not being able to proceed with your wedding.

Original documents required:

Birth certificate for both bride and groom           

First and last three pages of your passport for bride and groom

If either party are divorced or widowed a photocopy of the relevant document attesting the divorce or death of the spouse.
Full name(s) of the previous wife or husband with maiden name where applicable.

            In the case of a change of name, the relevant documents must be produced.

            A letter for both parties confirming their professions

            Confirmation of the UK address of both bride and groom

You will then be taken to the Civil Status Office in the locality of the chosen wedding venue for publication of the Bans of Marriage.

The Civil Marriage may take place 24 hours after the publication of the Bans of Marriage excluding Saturday, Sundays or Public Holidays.

A driver-guide will accompany you throughout these formalities
