There are many attractions in the North Male Atoll. The Grand Friday Mosque has been around for over 400 years. The National Museum contains the possessions of the various sultans as well as many of the archaeological discoveries of Thor Heyerdahl. Many of the ancient stone carvings and figures from this collection were featured in the book 'The Maldive Mystery'. At the southern end of the island in the Meeru Island Resort is the Asian Wok. This place serves snacks and meals all day to be eaten on the beach or under cover. The Singapore Bazaar is full of various stores that sell imported and Maldivian knick-knacks and local handicrafts. There are also shops that sell fishing gear, marine equipment, home hardware, and other merchandise for the local villages. The North Male Atoll also offers great beaches. For those interested in tours, the Maldives Sting Ray is a highly recommended and comes with full board and meals.
