The Deep South - Full Day - Monday - Coach Excursion

Visit the enchanting and mostly undeveloped south coast. The drive leads up the high plateau towards Grand Bassin, the sacred lake and the most important place of worship for Mauritian Hindus.
We continue 'off the beaten track' towards Bois Cheri, a village surrounded by tea plantations. The Bois Cheri tea factory also houses an interesting tea museum and the chalet provides wonderful views over the south whilst you sample the various flavours and aromas of the locally produced tea.
Experience the idyllic and peaceful way of life of times gone by in the south of the island, you'll enjoy a walk through the magnificent garden surrounding the colonial manor house of the Saint Aubin sugar estate as well as the adjoining anthurium.
We'll discover the secrets of Vanilla - learn everything from its cultivation to the delightful taste of vanilla rum. A traditional lunch will be served in the dining room of the colonial mansion.
Following lunch the excursion continues to the spectacular cliffs at Gris-Gris - a chance to see nature at its wildest on this rugged coast.
Finally, a walk through the 'La Vanille Nature Reserve' - a lush tropical valley rich in flora and fauna and also a breeding ground for thousands of crocodiles and also home to giant toroises.
