Mauritius Airport (Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport )
Situated in the southeast of the island of Mauritius, and 48 kilometres from the capital, Port Louis, the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is a two-storey building arranged with arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the first floor.
There are four gates, used by around 15 airlines. There are direct flights several times a week from London Heathrow with Air Mauritius with a journey time from the U.K. to Mauritius of 12 hours.
UK Passport holders entering Mauritius as tourists do not require a visa however your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the end of your visit to the country.
There are two lounges in the airport - La Terrasse for departures and the Premium Lounge for arrivals. La Terrasse is an executive lounge for first class and business class passengers as well as premium commercial passengers arriving from some Mauritius hotels.
The Premium Lounge, situated on the ground floor near the Baggage Reclaim area, offers fast-track immigration, luggage collection, toilets, and beverages and snacks.
There are plenty of taxis and most of the major car hire companies are represented with counters in the Tour Operators' Hall situated on the Ground Floor.There is the usual range of facilities for both arriving and departing tourists, including duty-free shops and food outlets on both of the floors, a foreign exchange centre and a first aid room. The newspaper and book shops stock both English and French language reading matter.
