Kandy - Sri Lanka

There are five separate elephant processions with the animals draped in fine dress. Though the festival is primarily a Buddhist event, there are elements of Hinduism as well. There is plenty of dancing, drum music, performances, and singing. The final evening of the festival is the biggest celebration that lasts through the night. Many tourists will be able to grab a seat along the parade route in order to take it all in.
