Although there are good beaches between Colombo and Kalutara it is from this point that an unbroken 130Km stretch of golden sand beaches begins making its way all the way south as far as the outskirts of the city of Galle. It is these beaches at Kalutara South that are recognised as the finest on the island and the reason that some of the most prestigious hotel properties are situated on the shoreline of the Indian Ocean in swaying coconut plantations.
