Getting to Manchester Airport

Situated South of the city of Manchester, Manchester International airport has excellent transport links for passengers.

By Car
The airport is accessed easily by car with fast links to the UK motorway network. Airport parking is available either 'on' or 'off' airport and may be pre-booked for your hassle-free journey.

By Taxi
It's easy to take a taxi to Manchester Airport or arrange for one to collect you on arrival. Taxi ranks are to be found just outside all three Terminals, making it simple to find and arrange a cab.

How much will it cost?
Fares for any journey taken inside the Manchester Licensed Area will be shown on the meter inside the taxi. For journeys outside Manchester, there is a published tariff of maximum fares. This is displayed at taxi ranks, and your driver will advise you of the fare before beginning the journey.

Taxi Buses
Airportcarz offers a Taxibus service that operates at all three terminals. Journeys by Taxibus must be pre-booked at the Airportcarz desk inside the arrivals hall in any of the terminals.

Booking Your Own Taxi
You may, of course, use any other taxi service of your choice, provided it's booked in advance. It's advisable to meet your driver inside the arrivals hall as waiting restrictions apply on the roads around the terminals.

By Coach
A large number of coach services operate daily from The Station, the airport's integrated transport hub, linking Manchester Airport with both the City centre and other major UK cities. Coach travel is a cost-effective way of getting to and from the airport, and most coaches are equipped with reclining seats, air-conditioning and onboard toilet and washroom facilities.

By Bus
Manchester Airport is served by a network of both local and regional buses running daily from early morning until late night seven days a week

Metrolink
Metrolink, Greater Manchester's tram system, serves the city centre and extends to Altrincham, Bury and Eccles.

The airport is not currently linked to the tram network but is expected to be served by Metrolink in the future as part of a programme to extend its coverage in south Manchester.

By Train
The Station, Manchester Airport's integrated transport hub, offers fast and frequent train services including frequent direct services runnng to and from Sheffield, York, Newcastle, Leeds, Huddersfield, Bolton, Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District. These services, operated by TransPennine Express and Northern Rail, run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To speed your way to cities further afield, up to 6 trains an hour link the airport to Manchester Piccadilly station in the city centre, where you can connect to fast rail services countrywide.

Once you arrive at The Station, it's easy to reach the terminal buildings using the Skylink moving walkways.
