Popular Flic en Flac lies on the sunny West coast of Mauritius approximately forty kilometres from the international airport. The transfer time by road is sixty minutes and the journey takes one across the interior of the island through field after field of sugar cane. Curious large mounds of rocks litter the fields and after a while it becomes obvious on closer inspection that these piles have been constructed from collections of the volcanic rocks that must have been spued from an eruption that probably occurred thousands of years ago, littering the island with its molten deposits. The distant range of mountains confirms the existence of the probable source of this phenomenon and the now dormant culprit. Eventually the coast is reached and from a vantage point you experience a first glimpse of the resort with the waters of the Indian Ocean shimmering in the blazing sun. Driving into the resort a number of Hotels have established themselves taking full advantage of the wonderful white sandy beaches that line the shore at this point on the island, the beaches are sheltered by the coral reef, clearly visible off shore. A number of small outlets have opened to provide necessities to the transient tourist population who visit the area these now include a couple of good restaurants, the capital of Port Louis with its great shops and interesting market is thirty minutes distant by road. Flic en Flac is a great place to holiday and we are pleased to offer accommodation in some of the best hotels – an added bonus are the glorious sunsets which have to be seen to be believed.
