Colombo - Sri Lanka

The National Museum has an interesting collection of historical works and the Art Gallery focuses on portraiture and temporary exhibits by local artists. Within the city there are constant reminders of the melting pot of cultures and religions who share the streets and pavements with many Mosques, Buddhist and Hindu temples on view. The city also boasts the little known Dehiwala Zoo where its possible to see samples of local flora as well as examples of local species of animals and reptiles. The highlight here is an afternoon elephant show.
