Bentota - Sri Lanka

The stretch of palm fringed beach from Bentota to Kosgoda passing Induruwa is famed for Turtle hatcheries. Five out of seven species of sea turtles come ashore to nest on these beaches as they have done for millions of years. All five species are either listed as ‘critically endangered’ or ‘endangered’. You will see first hand the work carried out at the hatcheries and can even help with release of the newly hatched turtles in to the ocean.
