Bentota - Sri Lanka

The Bentota Bazaar is located in the village and is accessed either from the main road or from the resort road by crossing the railway line over the white brick bridge.

The Bentota bazaar is a government approved shopping area where you can pick up souvenir items, wooden carvings, batik and brassware. In addition, there is also a Tourist Board Office, Tourist Police station, Post Office and a Bank Of Ceylon.

The Post Office has limited facilities, you can buy stamps for postcards and letters (picture post card to UK postage is Rs 20 and a letter to the UK in an envelope is Rs 45 with an additional charge of Rs 10 for every additional 10g.) Postcards are available from several shops in Bentota. The Bank of Ceylon accepts travellers’ cheques charging a nominal fee of Rs 200 for a single transaction. The 24 Hour ATM accepts most credit & debit cards.
