Bentota - Sri Lanka

Today the superb beaches of Bentota bring guests from around the world, the sea conditions are best from November to April when the ocean remains calm, at other times of the year the sea conditions can be unsuitable for swimming. At all times of the year notice should be taken of the flags indicating the prevailing sea condition.

Nowadays, both the coast road and the railway cross the Bentota River at Bentota, the railway provides an interesting transport option north to Colombo or south to Galle although the service can prove challenging at best. The Bentota Halt station is located on the Resort Road, which runs parallel to the beach. Access to the station from the main road is via the white brick bridge which crosses the railway line. Express trains do not stop at Bentota
